Transferring a Title on a Washington Vehicle
If you purchased a vehicle, you are required to transfer the title within 15 days of acquisition or you will incur a monetary penalty.
To transfer the title you need to bring in the following items:
- The current title with the previous owner's signature(s) releasing ownership.
- Full purchase price written in sales price on title or a bill of sale with full purchase price and signed and dated by seller.
- A completed odometer disclosure form if the vehicle is 10 years old or newer.

Transferring Title on an Out of State Vehicle
When bringing a vehicle into the state of Washington to be titled and licensed, please be aware that each situation may require different documents. Below is a list of the minimum requirements necessary.
- Please get your WA driver license then register your vehicle(s). You have 30 days once you establish residency here to get your driver license, register your vehicle(s) and get new plates.
- If a purchase with an Out of State Title we need the current title with all legal and registered owners signature(s) releasing interest in the vehicle.
- A bill of sale stating the full purchase price.
- A completed odometer disclosure form if the vehicle is 10 years old or newer.

If you have moved to Washington State, we need your Out-of-State Title. If you are making payments on the vehicle, we need a faxed copy of your title. Your lienholder may request a written authorization please give us a call we will prepare one for you.
